Identifying Lee Loader Calibre

Post by Macd »

So while in my GS shop I noticed two Loaders. One box is marked .223 and has a clear top. The other is all red plastic but no indication of calibre. Inside it is complete but only a patent number showing on one part. He wants $35 for it but I am sure I can get it for less as it looks used. How can I figure out calibre? Bring in some cases maybe?

Everyone I've see has the cartridge identified by a roll stamp on the die body and I have some old ones.

I don't have a good answer as how to identify the caliber of the dies, but I can imagine them being really expensive. If you buy 'em and then find out you ain't got a gun in that caliber, you're obligated to get a gun that fit's the dies .... else, you're gonna lose your man card.

I think I would be real tempted to buy the kit anyway. I have 7 kits now, one each for my most used calibers, and I have been known to get things backwards before; dies, brass, powder before gun...
