My first reloading tool

Post by Et2ss »

Was a LL in .270 Win.

Since then, I pick them up when I see them at decent prices. I did pass on a 6,5 Mannlicher-Schoenauer I had found in an old shop that was closing down........of course that was before I had acquired my 1903 Carbine

I did manage to pick up a few vintage ones in 7 x 57, 300 Savage, 7,65 Mauser, and .410

I seems that the vintage calibers are getting to be crazy prices.

Pics of the cool ad that came with my .410 Loader

I've contributed to the price issue by flipping a few. I've never used one.

I do have a bunch of them, one for every centerfire rifle cartridge I shoot plus the 3" 12 Gauge. If I were honest with myself, I don't use them anymore, not with all the presses I have on the bench. I ought to sell them as I do need the space that they occupy.

I have 7 now. I don't figger on using them for a EOTWAWKI situation, and I don't use them every time I reload. But there's something about the ultra simple tools that just make them special to me. Occasionally if I'm feeling "retro", I'll get one out and pound out a box of ammo. Makes me feel good and a huge sense of satisfaction...

My first reload was assembled on a Lee Loader in '69...

I have a Lee loader for every pistol, rifle, or shotgun that I own. I bought my first one in 30-06 Model year 1963, it was the only reloading tool I could afford back then. They have served me well over the years and I find myself going more and more back to them. james
