Light .223 Loads

Post by Macd »

Finally got some range time in. Finished off working up some IMR4227 loads using 55 grain Hornady SP. 16.5 grains gave me groups of 1.o to 1.75 at 100 yards. Wind was variable probably 5 to 15 mph quartering from behind me. Five shot groups from a bag in a Savage 10XP with a medium profile barrel and about a 2 lbs trigger pull. Will post targets later.

Yeah that's pretty good for an economy load.

Here are the pictures. I am pleased with the results. I think a calmer day and a bench rest would really tighten the groups up. I was using a Millet TR-01 4-16x50 Mil Dot scope. It is one of my favourites.
