First day of the season a category 1 hurricane came through. As I am not much of a wing shot I passed up hunting that day. Today I got out for the first time. Some fresh sign but way too hot for hunting. I was wet from the inside out by the time I got back to my jumping off point. A cold beer fixed that. Saw some nice geese. I should have brought my combo. I may try again this evening before dark. Nothing like trying to paunch a moose holding a flashlight in your teeth

Gives you an idea how rough the terrian is. There is a moose just inside the edge of the woods under the arrow. I almost missed spotting it except it moved slightly just when I had a set of 10x50's on the spot. I can't see it in the picture I took with my phone and it had our wind and could see us. No shot obviously but at least I have acertained its stomping grounds. The weather has not been co-operating, 25 degrees one day and high winds and rain the next. My hunting partner tore his meniscus (knee) getting off his quad and this is restricting where we hunt. It is illegal to use an ATV on marshes and other soft areas except to retrieve an animal. Out again to the same scrub marsh this evening and hoping wind is more favourable.

25 degrees one day ??
Celsius ? That would be a nice winter day down here.
I have torn my meniscus cartilage about 6 times. Only one of the times was too painful to keep me from walking.
I am assuming that you and your partner are on the same tag so he has to be hunting with you ?
Good luck,

So it has been the worst fall I can remember for hunting. Rain and wind most days which keeps the animals in the deep woods and only us dumb humans are out getting soaked. My tag partner is waiting for surgery on his knee and unable to hunt. Now that the weather has come around with a few nice colder days I end up with a frayed rotator cuff that makes it impossible to hold a rifle steady or drive my ATV. Reminds me of HeeHaw "If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all."

I've been wondering how the hunt has been progressing. I hope you can get that cuff taken care of!

Gloom, despair, and agony on me.
