Those are LARGE collars on the dogs. Are they radio control? What the story?

They have hog collars on them which are more like a cuff. Hog hunting, there is a dead hog on top of the box.

Did a LOT of wild pig hunting with some friends and their dogs many years ago. It was a spectacle to watch. One dog on a ear till it got the throat the other on the tail or hind leg till they took it down. Amazing instinct and agility.

What is and why a hog collar?

A protective sleeve to prevent them getting their throat ripped out.

Now that makes sense. I know I told this story before but I'm old and repeat myself in infrequently.

My dad was a plantation Doctor on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island. We live very close to the second largest ranch on the Island. Pig hunting was and is a regular activity there. We had no Veterinarians nearby. When a pig dog was injured my dad did a lot of repair work on those dogs. The benefits for me was I was frequently invited to go hunting with the paniolos (hawaiian cowboys) and their dogs plus the bonus of a lot of meat for our family.

Texas hogs stomp, kick with sharp hooves, and bite with gnarly teeth but what's super-nasty are the big hog tusks that are akin to diamond coated saw blades.
