Hull conditioning tools

Post by Ranch Dog »

Some shotshell tools I've been working with, all worth having.

Hull trimmers can solve the component stack issues, but the press you are using to deliver a folded crimp must accommodate variations in hull length. In the past, I have used card wads to stop the Load-All II where I need it to, and I'm working a height adjustment for the press via the square tube.

The BPI Spin-N-Trim did a great job. Hull need to be deprimed before trimming. The Reloading Solutions Handy Trimmer trims with the spent primer in the hull. I think this was done to avoid decapping by hand. In other words, you can trim and move the hull directly to your press for the various stages.

Had I bought the Spin-N-Trim first, it would have fit my needs, but the $18 premium for the CRS Handy Trimmer is worth every penny.

Absolutely, positively, 100%, For sure, more stuff is needed :D
First lesson for you new handloaders.
It's always, ALWAYS, needed! Never "Wanted"!!
This rule served me very well for many years. At least until
my wife figured out I was full of it.. :D YMMV

Michael, that old cuss is back at his place on the bay in Hawaii.
I think he said until August? Thanks for reminding me, I need to
rattle his chain. Can let him go too long without some aggravation. :D
I hope he's recharging well, he sure deserves it.

From watching the weather, it looks like it is raining hogs and dogs.
