Anyone use BL-C2 for .223/556

Post by killian6pk »

Just looking for another powder to try with my AR's. I have a couple bottles of CFE223. I saw the BLC2 recommended highly on another forum. Are there any reasons to not use BLC2? If so what would you use instead? With the way things are (looks like another wave of panic buying due to the riots) I am trying to get an order in today or tomorrow.

BL-C(2) is one of the many powders I've never used. No particular reason, just never got around to it. That aside looking a Load Data searches Hodgdon list loads for anything from 35 grain bullets at least 60 grains.

Stay well, be safe, make smoke,
Curt.......makin' smoke and raising my carbon foot print one cartridge at a time +guns +guns

It is in the right range for the.223 Rem. Lots of published load data. Seems very close to H335 which was/is the powder used for many military 5.56 applications.

Interesting article on this powder.

Thanks guys. Especially for that H335 reference. I did not know what powder they used in military ammo.

I use BL-C(2) almost exclusively for my 5.56 M193 rounds. I use it with a 55gr fmj Berry's with a CCI 450. I developed a load that matches the Federal Black Eagle M193 load with matching POA and POI with the same felt recoil. I have not yet tested it over the chrony though. Meters very well through my RCBS Uniflow.

Do you have an example? With as varying as manuals are, there are real people on the internet I trust more.

I use CFE223 and H335 for 5.56X45. I don't load .223REM technically.

I've used bl-c2. It meters well and my wife and daughter were very happy with this powder vs varget and h335. They both liked recoil and accuracy.

I have a couple pounds of it and have used it sparingly for my AR. Didn't really get into really testing it but it seemed to work as well as others I have. Mostly I use H335 because I have more of it and have had good luck with it. I also have CFE223 and use it as well. That's about all I've used for my 223/556 loadings. The only difference I noticed between the three was BLC2 loads had a different "sound" and dropped the cases much closer, like right on the bench closer. I was not at a max load, but neither with the others either. IMO between the three, flip a coin, they'll all three work just fine. I should add a caveat, (Paul Harrell, my hero) my abilities with my AR are no where near the Commandos on other forums. I do not shoot 1/4 inch groups at 100 like most "snipers" seem to be able to do at will with their's. 8-)
