Put together 20 rounds of 38-55 using my home cast Lee 379250 and 24.5 grains of H4198. In twice fired StarLine brass with CCI LRP. So far with the three bullets I'm loading in 38-55 H4198 has proved to be the work horse powder.

Trimmed and neck sized some 1X Win brass for the 99. Took some length and diameter measurements to see what happens on second firing in the maxed out chamber. Used 40 grains of Varget and 168 Hornady Match. I am hoping to see little case stretch.

45 Colt mostly for the Rossi a few may find their way to the Ruger. @55 grain MoBullet SWC with blue lube, 9 grains of HS6. The test loads averaged about 1100 fps so a nice load for a Sunday afternoon at the range.

Batch of 7.5x55 Swiss using Lee 309-150 FP. These were cast with WW with added tin solder and water quenched. I used my own pan lube. 36 grains of Varget for a forecast 2,000 fps. The profile of the bullet puts them just shy of lands when seated to just above top lube groove. I hope to put them down range later this week.

Actually yesterday, and while not traditional reloading it is part of the process. I fireformed 40 cases of 30/30 Winchester to make 7x30 Waters brass. Half were formed with jacketed bullets and half with 135gr. Lee 7mm "soup can" cast and powdercoated bullets. Both worked just fine, and I can save the expense of jacketed for fireforming in the future.

So far this morning I haven't had the proper "start time" yet for my short 30-30 loading session, but the primed brass, True Shot bullets, AA#7 powder and all the necessary tools are set up and ready to go. For some reason, cast bullets in the 30-30 have become an addiction in the last couple of years .... thanks to RD and a few other friends (enablers).

So far in my limited tests of the True Shot 165 gr RNFP (GC) with AA#7 powder, the lower powder charges tend to shoot tighter groups. My load with 14.0 gr (best target group) measured 1635 fps with a ME 980 fp. The next best target group was with 14.3 gr which measured 1687 fps with a ME 1043 fp. Since I'm only looking for a minimum (at the muzzle) ME of 1000 fp, the plan is to try 14.2 gr and hope for accuracy.

Just waiting for the right conditions with no interruptions or distractions.

edit to add ... 2:20 pm the 30-30's are loaded and ready to go (along with a batch of .45 acp)

edit again :) .... 9:10 pm and a small batch of .357 mag and 9mm added to the day!

Woo-hoo, a re-loading day, and since I handled the dangerous stuff after 6:00 pm, seems the dain bramage is finally beginning to wear off too

Great to hear, JD!

With the cooler weather arriving yesterday, I will be getting started on the range work that I've got stacked up and will soon be ready to start reloading again.
