Today I loaded ONE .38 Special. One is all I needed to have enough to evenly fill the cylinder and two speed loaders for the M88.

I will probably have set up the turret for .45 ACP and I'm running some 230gr plated RNs over 6.2gr of AutoComp right now.

Saturday, Found out My new to Me Taurus 44 REALLY likes the Lee 220g SWC over 6.5g of Red Dot...
12rnds into a big ragged hole You can cover with a Snuff Can Lid at 25yds...

The downside is....It's an old single Cavity mold....

I believe there are two ways of looking at that "downside". IF, you have a single cavity mold, AND it drops great bullets exactly as you want, you KNOW that every bullet you cast will be the same as the last one. So when you go and shoot them the results "should" be the same. As you proved with that great group.

The more cavities that a mold possesses the greater the chance of bullets cast being "slightly" (or largely) different increases. So....in a hobby where we try to reduce inconsistency's a single cavity mold is (IMO) one very good way to do that. You can always find a bright side to something if you look hard enough... :D

I believe You are 100% Correct!!

The 'Downside" is just the long day I'm gonna take to cast a BUNCH of Bullets for that gun!

But, I really enjoy Casting, so that's the Upside!

I've been busy last night:

500 rounds of .44-40 black powder. Then I ran out of powder. I'll also soon run out of bullets.

I really like the vintage look of these cases. They've been fired with black powder, and then let sit for a week or two in soapy water. Cleaning was done by by wet tumbling with stainless pins for 30 minutes. Interestingly, this dark patina acts as a dry lubricant, I guess it's mostly carbon embedded in the surface roughness of the cases. They wouldn't need any lube at all.

Yep, you have been busy! I too like the looks of the 44-40 vs. the 44 Mag. You do this loading with the Pro 1000?

Did another 200 black powder the day before yesterday for testing new bullets. I always had problems with heavy residue, and the new bullets are "big lube" bullets with a larger grease groove, and with a real black powder grease. A friend made me some for testing.

Yesterday I did another 450 smokeless.

Nearly 1200 rounds in three days... Now I really don't want to see the press for a few days :D
