Hornady sells their 147gr XTP loads advertised at 950fps. I purchased some 147gr XTP bullets to reload after watching a couple vids on their performance. Using AA#7, cci spp, mixed brass with an OAL 1.115. Started out at 6.2gr (book start is 6.0) and worked up to 6.7 (book max). The 6.5gr loads over the chrony were running right at 925-930ish. Close to what I was looking for but not quite there. Fired 10 rounds today from my SR9c, 3/12inch barrel, at 6.7grains they hit in the 980's with one a bit over 1,000. I'm there. I will admit they are a bit "brisk" from the compact 9 but easy enough to handle. Accuracy at 30 feet was palm size, that's good shootin' for me. Not sure if these will be a SD round or if I will stick with 115gr XTP's at 1200. Maybe shoot some water jugs to make that decision. As to recoil between them, they shoot about the same to me, maybe the 115's are a bit "softer" but I don't see much difference.

Probably no basis for it, but I like heavier bullets in the 9mm Luger. I continue to shot my 135-grain cast bullet but keep factory ammo in stock for training that does not allow reloaded ammunition. That ammo is either Federal and Mag-Tech with a 147-grain FP.

I'm finally running out of bullets, so I will need to cast my TLC357-135-RF. My inventory has been lubed, but this year they will be PC'd.

In training that requires factory ammo, I shoot 147-grain. That training usually involves steel flip targets against 45 Auto shooters. Marginal hits with 115 or 125-grain 9mm Luger ammo will not compete with the 45 Auto's marginal hits. The heavier bullet in the 9mm closes the gap. This training usually involves 600 rounds over the weekend with the steel targets at the end. The 45 Auto guys are generally done were with 147-grain and the 9mm Luger; I'm as fresh as a daisy!

I prefer carrying a 45 Auto, but I'd rather not shoot it through a 600 round weekend.

Wouldn't happen to have one of those molds left gathering dust somewhere for sale would 'ya ?

I like bullets with a fat nose! Has there been any feeding problems with that wide nose? I have 4 different 9mm pistols that I haven't had any feeding problems with a Lee 125 RNF bullets but one gun stuttered on a 147 gr TC...


Hmmm. Did a search (4 searches) on the NOE site and couldn't find the TLC357-135-RF?

NOE has this mold in either gas check or plain base in a 4 cavity mold.

I was looking for the same design for my carry 45 AUTO but I ain't spending $100 on a mold.

I would love to give that boolit a good workout but, can't go the price either..

I've never had any feed issues with the 72% metplat RF nose. I shoot them in the 25 Auto, 32 Auto, 380 Auto, 9mm Luger & Makarov, and 45 Auto. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure no spare molds are laying around.
