Reloading for my new .38
The other day I de-primed, cleaned, and primed 260 once fired Federal brass. Now I'm going to reload for my new .38 snub nose. I have several types of bullets and need to cast some more 125g SWC. So far I shot some 124g JHP reloads that were a bit too snappy. I didn't reload them and I don't know what powder was used.
I want to compare different loads of Unique. I have used Unique in another .38 revolver, but with a 6" barrel and liked the results. More news tonight at 11.

Re: Reloading for my new .38
My old 4in Kframe loves Unique, Red Dot and Bullseye. The 38 special is just fun for this old grump to bust old apples with. Also fun to reload. Currently I loading some of LarryW's cast Alox lubed 148gr wadcutters. Thanks Larry!

My favourite caliber. Accurate and pleasant to shoot. My S&W MP 10 is the best revolver in regards to both.

38 Spl is my favorite revolver cartridge. I ended up selling my 357 & 44 Mags along with my 45 Colt. Those three were just too hard on my wrist.

And you're complaining about your wrist and shoot shotgun slugs. Wait till your shoulder starts complaining even with that life vest!

The same thought came to me but I restrained myself ........ barely I have a 200 grain bullet load for the 38 but only shoot it in a 357 revolver. It sure knocks over the steel targets.daboone wrote:And you're complaining about your wrist and shoot shotgun slugs. Wait till your shoulder starts complaining even with that life vest!

Re: Reloading for my new .38
One of my favorite bullets for my 38s is the Lee, 125 gr RNFP. I cast a lot of them with my "mystery metal" that runs about 11 BHN and load them over Bullseye or W231. Lots of fun shooting...

I agree with you 100%. That is a sweet little bullet, friend of mine gave me a bunch.mikld wrote:One of my favorite bullets for my 38s is the Lee, 125 gr RNFP. I cast a lot of them with my "mystery metal" that runs about 11 BHN and load them over Bullseye or W231. Lots of fun shooting...
I really liked them.
I've got an old, 2 banger Ideal mold, 148gr button nosed wadcutter, I would have to
say is my favorite.
38 spec, the above mentioned bullet, & a Lee Loader kit was my
first reloading project. Hard to believe, 50+ years ago. 38 spec is still my favorite loading
project.
