I turned 150 lbs of range lead into 13 bhn casting alloy with the addition of some Babbitt Roto Metals superhard and 65 12 23.

RB, That looks like something Okie44 would cast.

It has a BC in the .420s launched at 1100 fps , still subsonic at at 4000' MSL , they should carry 1000 ftlb past 350 yd . Should be enough for 200 yd porkers and whitetail ....

Finished up my C358-200-RFs, the WLL 2500+ is a bit tacky, so I coated them with Rooster Jacket. I have used the RJ for years to coat my bullets; it will put a hard shell coating over the liquid Alox so that it isn't tacky but a couple of years ago, production stopped. Buffalo Arms picked it up and is offering it, so I keep in stock. I was glad to see that as I used it as a lube on my 25 & 32 Auto bullets, nothing else. Sure keeps the lube mess out of the dies or at least to a minimum.

It is easy to apply, put the bullets in a funnel that they can't pass through and pour some RJ through the funnel capturing the runoff. It goes a long way. I had built a drying tray under the top of my annealing table, and after I laid them out, I decided to put them in my case drying. I set the temperature at 90°, the minimum setting, and let it run for 15 minutes and then turned it off. I forgot about them for a couple of hours but pulled them out. They were dry. I think I will use the drier from now on.

Thanks RD for the tip about Buffalo Arms carrying Rooster Lube. I have just about run out.

I ran off 105 keepers from a 454613 single RNFP HB .
This example is a victim of a Lyman # reassignment . It seems there is a 255 gr with a BP generous double lube groove for the original 45 Colts and Schofield BP and another , the example I have , that is 285 gr Minnie style .

I'll paper patch these for a friend's 73' Springfield 1886 Trapdoor over 10-12 gr of Unique .
It's a fun load that hits close enough to the sights out to a 100 yds to call it hitting the sights .

2 alloys , a 1-40 and lead pipe with whatever tin was left over from the last lb of 1-40 . I don't think the old girl will notice with such high performance loads .

Very interesting shape and chrome-like alloy.

Sometimes I get it all just exactly right . Those are all but pure lead from lead pipe . The others were 1-40 .
I think those are probably the first pure lead I've cast in a long long time .

The last plumber's lead I cast was for the Lee 12 Gauge slugs. Same here, bright and shinny!
