Hello from Germany

Post by Südhesse »

Hi all,
my name is Jörg (Joerg is similiar to George) and I live in the southern part of State of Hesse in Germany.
I'm 50 years old, married, have 4 daughters and 2 dogs (both female). So I'm surrounded by beeings without interrest in reloading, shooting, hunting or technical stuff in general.
Thats the reason why I often go to the range or hunting ;)
I'm a hunter and a member of the German Shooting Federation, which is similar to the NRA.
I started reloading in the 90's with a single stage and imported 2 Loadmasters as factory seconds from Lee. At this time, s&h was affordable.
I'm reloading 45ACP for my LB Premier II, 9mm for my SIG P210 and Walther P5 compact, .357 for my S&W 686 and all my hunting cartridges. My favorite for hunting is by far the 8x57 IS.
My reloading equipment is mostly from Lee and I like the ingenious solutions in their products.
If you have any questions about hunting and shooting in Germany, don't hesitate to contact me.
BR Jörg

Welcome to the forum! I always look forward to a good hunting story, second to a good tale about a Load-Master!

Gruess Gott Suedhesse! Sorry, no umlaut on my keyboard.
I spent more than a year in Bayern, Furth by Nurnberg, back in the '70s. US Army
When the chips are down, I'll pick up my Carl Bock drilling, 8x57 IS, and get the job done. I prefer the Nosler Partition, 200 gr., in that weapon. A friend has a drilling in 8x57 IR. I size those same Partitions down to .318 with a die from RCBS.
I also load for a Gebruder Kneifel 9x80 hammer drilling, and my thumper, an Eckoldt in 9.3x74. I modified Lee collet dies for both the 9x80 and the 9.3x74. I use the 8x57 collet dies in their original condition. I've also managed to make a combination of stuff to put a "factory crimp" on the 9x80, using a 35 Whelen crimp die and some spacers.
Welcome to this forum. We love to read hunting stories. I've read and reread the English translation of Norbert Klups' fine book, The Drilling. Lots of good stories in there.

Welcome to the forum, this is a very nice group on here. I have been acquainted with a 6 inch barreled 686 for some years now, I love it. I have shot a few Mausers over the years that I think were 8X57 but do not own any.

We have people from all over the world and all have shooting, reloading, bullet casting, hunting in common. Of course, most of us use Lee equipment in our endeavors.
Reduce, reuse, recycle, means- resize, reload, recycle.

Also load 8x57 for an old 1944 DOT Mauser. I have lapped out both molds and sizer to .325-.326 to account for throat and barrel wear. I am toying with idea to have a 9.3x62 barrel put on the action.
