BrassMagnet

Post by BrassMagnet »

I am new to this site.
Many of you already know me.
I am BrassMagnet on CastBoolits. I am well known there.

Mostly, I am looking for load data for the various Lee Loaders that I have.

I believe Richard Lee came up with some of the best and safest load data possible for use by people with limited resources.

Are you aware Lee Loader load data can also be used with a Lyman 55 powder measure without the need for a scale? The Lyman 55 powder measure has three adjustments and a chart which shows the approximate weight of specific powders dropped with the three adjustments set to specific marks. This chart appears to show the same powders listed by Richard Lee. Could that be merely a coincidence? Or were those just the powders that were most appropriate for use at the time? A Lee dipper can be used to validate the settings from the chart. A scale would be better, but a dipper will do in a pinch as all dipper loads are safe from level to rounded when the listed dipper is used.

No doubt about that! I own them for every rifle and revolver cartridge I shoot.

Nope, didn't know that.

Welcome to a Lee friendly and informational site!

I found the 55 to be a very reliable and consistant PM for ball and flake powders. I used mine for years till I got a PPM. Now my Lee Classic (now called the Deluxe) is my go to bench mounted PM. The old PPM is left preset and still in use for M1 Grand and IMR/H 4895. 2 truly perfect PMs. The 55 now belongs to a very good friend. I'm sure he will appreciate your comments about it.

I was buying Lyman 55 measures because there were good deals to be had on them.
I gave one to a young guy in need of assistance. He had been using just scoops. I just sent it along with all the papers in the box without really looking at them. He found the chart and he verified it dropped correctly with the scoop.
