Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder measure
If anyone's looking for one, Midway has them for 48.99 free shipping right now. Of course they're back ordered but are taking orders for them. No delivery date shown, just that they are "overdue". I ordered one because I "need" another stand alone measure so thought I'd try one.

Re: Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder measure
How much better are they than the plastic-bodied Perfect Powder measure? I'd guess that they are more durable, but does it throw more consistent charges?

I find that mine stays with in a tenth grain either way with numerous powders.klr wrote:How much better are they than the plastic-bodied Perfect Powder measure? I'd guess that they are more durable, but does it throw more consistent charges?

Are you talking about the Deluxe version? Or both versions?Ohio3Wheels wrote: I find that mine stays with in a tenth grain either way with numerous powders.

The deluxe stand alone, I don't have any of the "autos".

Re: Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder measure
Lee makes another stand-alone that comes with a stand and a plastic body. It's about half the price of the deluxe version. It has an elastomer wiper so I wondered if it would work as well as the deluxe version.

Re: Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder measure
The Perfect Powder Measure served me very well for at least two decades, but the Deluxe PPM is a considerable improvement. The PPM will leak with the very fine powders. Some leak more than others. There are some very fine improvements to the DPPM that seem to do a better job containing the powder.klr wrote:Lee makes another stand-alone that comes with a stand and a plastic body. I ended up with three PPMs. The original that I bought and two that came from others. The original was the best, but it still leaked. Early on, I lapped the drum and it helped but still leaked. I lapped the other two I acquired, but the drums were really messed up when I got them. I never thought to replace the parts as necessary. Honestly, they came with other stuff I bought and I did not use them much.
I did find the tension screw very sensitive to the operation so I bought a torque screwdriver and studied the force applied. It made a huge difference to the amount of powder that leaked, but would not eliminate it.
I no longer have the PPMs.

Re: Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder measure
Thanks, RD. I don't need a leaker. I'll spring for the Deluxe version.
