Ordered last evening shipped today, but the spare magazine that was on sale didn't ship with them. Maybe for the best I could see the bullet boxes bouncing around and messing up the magazine. Also order some more cast from Acme. So far I like their bullets, at least the 1895 45/70 likes them.

Make smoke,
Are these it O3W.

Just for curiosity (as I have enough supply stocked up already), I checked the availability of bulk 45 ACP 230 RN plated projectiles with four of my usual vendors. Turns out, that all four vendors were unable to fill an order of this type, each showing "out of stock".

I was expecting the usual pre-election shortages to hit the market around summertime. This virus crisis came out of the blue and the shortages appeared much sooner.

I hope no one gets caught seriously short of supplies this time around...

Was up in Yakima, Wa. (about 70 miles from my house) and went into a Bi-Mart store (Cabella's wasn't open until 11AM and this was about 8:30) as I perused the powder shelf (behind the counter) I remarked about the "slim" offerings (there was a 1lb of 2400, 1lb of Unique and another one lb'er.) and the guy say's "I have more in the back, whadda' ya lookin' for". As I named off what I was looking for he would say, nope, don't have that, but to be fair Bi Mart doesn't carry Western Powder brand nor any Power Pistol so I wasn't surprised at that, but he wouldn't tell me what all he had "in the back". LOL. The stores we went to seemed to be pretty well stocked EXCEPT for "cleaning supplies" and of course TP, and not a lot of shoppers. As an aside, sorta', driving through Yakima was almost like driving through a ghost town. Traffic was maybe 20% of "normal"....all seemed kinda weird, felt like what my idea of what shopping in Russia would have been like 20 years ago....

I have not seen a pound of 2400 in a retail store since about 2012.

I mentioned loading up a bunch of 223 here the other day and RD mentioned I should crank them on the Load Master press. Got me to thinking I might just do that so I checked and I don't have a 4s shell plate for 223 so I go "on-line" and guess what? Not a one in sight. Every "usual" place ( and some I've never even seen/heard of before, I went deep) is/are out of stock. Some even say no back order. Must be a lot of Load Master presses out there.....oh, and don't bother looking for ANY "known" type "self defense" projectiles either. The folks that just bought the property next to me, I don't know them other than introductions, are building a big gate to go across the drive (I have to go through their property to get to mine, have easement) so I guess I'm going to have to go have a "chat" with them. NO GATE...I'm not getting out of my truck to open their gate to get to my property let alone my wife doing that. Plus I'm not going 1/2 mile down the drive to pickup my delivered goods that are left at the gate because the delivery can't get through. What are they thinking????? Rant over, gotta' go make a personal visit.

The older catalogs listed the 4A as the shell plate for the 223, but, the current catalog lists a 4S. I have two spare shell plates, the 4A and the 4AS. On the notes on my older Load-Master instructions, I noted that the 4A accepts a .333" pin gauge in the slot and the 4AS a .336". If you would like to see if they work, both can be heading to the ranch tomorrow, just PM me your USPS address.

Oh, I went headstrong into a similar easement issue on my river place. It was a good lesson but not cheap, I bet a little bit of kindness front end would have saved me $10K in attorney fees proving I was right.

My Dad had a similar idea, RD. He looked into the lawyer side and went the other way and it worked.

Aww, com'on guys you mean I hafta' be nice??? and I want'ed em' to think I was that "crusty" old cowboy that lived at the end of the road that always carries a gun.

What do you think about, leave the gate open till' dark then open it at, oh, say, 8am (ish)? oh, and it has to be electric open, and we each get an "opener".....also better leave it open ALL the time in the winter cause' it's gonna be right at the bottom of a steep little grade right at a corner that I've slid around more than once....
We'll see. :geek:

Edit to add: I did talk to the son yesterday (he's in his 40's :? ) he walked up (his trucks broke down) to the house to kinda give me a warning that some of his "former" felon friends were after him and had been for a couple years because of him getting them arrested and sent to jail for theft (or something) and he was pretty sure they had been on their property sneaking around. He said they came in through the woods just below my place. He knew it was them because he "recognized" their tracks (one of them is bowlegged)... :? But, he also told me one time he had an iron jawed horse that would run away with you at the slightest cause and one he ran away with his brother so they tried to get ahead of him in a pickup to "head him off at the gate" and (they ?) clocked him for a mile and a quarter at over 50 miles an hr. I never heard if they got to the gate in time or not....I don't think he appreciated my laughing....said he had witnesses... Gonna be a long rest of my life here I think....I think I'll put up a gate coming in to my property. (actually I have one but it's always open) No one gets an "opener" but me and the missus.... :S
