NOE expander plug

Yesterday I tried to use a NOE 9 mm expander plug that goes in the Lee universal expander die. The first expansion step went into the case, but the flare portion of the plug would not get to the case mouth with the die touching the case holder. I cut 1/4 of an inch off the bottom of the Lee die with a mini chop saw, cleaned up the threads and tried again. It now can be adjusted so that it will expand the case and flare the mouth exactly like a Lyman "M" die at half the price.

I had the same issue with the NOE 9 mm expander not sure what the issue is as all the others I have and use work just fine so I have no plans to alter the Lee die to make it work. I have a set of Lyman 9 mm dies with the M die expander as well as a set of Lyman Powder Charge/Expanding Die System that I can just leave in the turret.
