Buying A new Press

Post by Mike 56 »

I have a old challenger i bought years ago it is worn out it is loose and the threads are bad. I need a new press. If i bought a new challenger press turret press are they strong enough to be able reform 30-06 to 7.7 jap and 8x57. What i am saying is do really need a cast iron press. I have a hand press and a lee C press to do my light work i just need a O press for reforming brass and sizing rifle cases.

For the "reforming" needs, I would say "yes".

I'd go for an O-frame press. I also see if Lee would refurbish your press. It's worth asking.

I bit the bullet and bought a Lee cast iron press. They no longer make the same style challenger that i have so i don't think they will referb my old press.

The service is quite good, so it might be worth asking.

It's interesting how over the years "cheap" Lee equipment became "inexpensive" to it's "built like a tank" today. :D That how the old gold standard, RCBS's, stuff was described awhile back. Richard was a true innovator and John has pushed Lee Precision up to the forefront with its competitors.
