New breech lock Challenger installed

Post by Shooterrick2020 »

First don't panic those empty cigarette boxes we're not smoked anywhere in my house and certainly not in my reloading room!lolololol.

I added the breech lock Challenger to do my decapping resizing and priming on. This frees up I die position on my auto breech lock Pro to add a bullet feeding die and I'm considering either RCBS or mini mr. Bullet feeder. . I have it mounted with Lee quick bench plate Mount and it is sitting where my auto breech lock Pro which is temporarily on the Shelf under the bench normally sits. . My space is limited so I appreciate the ability of the change presses out with minimal effort. The Challenger has been tested with the Lee safety Prime and everything working well and I have lubricated the ram with petroleum jelly. . I'm going to run some new cases through it first and get them resized and Primed. Since I'm currently doing 357 Magnum I shouldn't have to change the dye over for 38 Special which I will do next.

For the guy that doesn't want another press!

I think Mr. Lee always thought about the guy that owned a single rifle and a single pistol, not like nuts such as myself that own more firearms than a gun store. I think he saw the guy that bought the Challenger press reloading his 30-06, but he continued to buy ammo for his 38 Spl. Maybe he didn't have room for another press, and maybe this would get him into trying progressive reloading for that handgun.

My first "real" press was a Challenger. Yep, single stage and I had to swap and readjust dies, but I assembled a few thousand rounds before "The Divorce" (my ex had a good attorney and I wound up selling everything I owned and wound up living in the back of my PU). If it weren't for the Challenger I might have stopped reloading...

I know why because it is a marvel of simple engineering! This is something that Lee is very good at.
