Began reloading another 20 .30-30. Using 3031 Powder @ 28 gr with Hornaday 170 gr FP bullets. Finally, beginning to love this rifle-Marlin Glenfield w/Steoger 4x scope (50+ years old) for shooting paper at 100 yds. Looking for new scope. Probably Weaver K-4 4x38 or Vortex Diamondback 2-7x35.
If all else fails--look for the obvious

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
I'm still messing with my SMLE #5 and the TLC314-215-RF. Not having much luck with it. I really have little time to work with it, a couple of rounds a day but that is the best my schedule will allow.
I'm up to take my mom to the hospital for some early tests. Saw a very nice boar hog under the feeder at 3:50 am. Think I will finish up my Savage 170 35 Rem and the TLC359-190-RF this afternoon after a nap.

No just shooting paper at 100 yds. Hunting days are over. I won't get up that early on a cold morning anymore

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Savage 170B chambered in 35 Rem with my TLC359-190-RF and 35.0 grains of H4895.
This is the shooting at 100 yards. The two bullet holes near the bullseye are with a cold barrel and the two above are from a hot barrel. The barrel on the 170 is very slim so that might be the issue but I'm kind of wondering about the Weaver 62B base. I'm not real sure it is matting with the radius on the receiver as well as it should. If not, the receiver heating up could cause it to flex slightly. I probably will purchase the EGW base with it's picatinny spacing rather than investigate the fit.
If I shoot and come back down the hill for 15 minutes or so and then go back, this rifle is a heck of a bullet chunker. The load for this 190-grain bullet is 2000 FPS. Might get a little more out of it once I figure out the issue with heat.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
Monday evening I ran out the last of the finished 225-55s in about 60 223 s.
Last night I did lube, size and check on about 20% of the fresh 225-55s I cast up Sunday . 100-120 .

I've been thinking about a mold for the .223, any powders that you would recommend. or that I should avoid.RBHarter wrote:Monday evening I ran out the last of the finished 225-55s in about 60 223 s.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
I loaded a few mild loads for my Enfield using CFE 223 powder and a Sierra 150 JSP. Results were three into 2.1" @ 100. Avg fps was 2300, but the spread was around 90 fps. Brass has been neck sized only for three or four firings and is starting to get a bit oversize. I full-length resized them and will up my charge of CFE for the next attempt.
Also loaded and fired a few for my 358 Win Savage 11. Hornady 200gr RN bullets, about 2250, went into 1.05" @ 100. That rifle can really shoot.
jdl447 - I just started using CFE 223 in my 223 and have had outstanding results. I've also used H335 and IMR 3031 in the past with good results.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
I have several .223 powders, have only loaded one, and have shot none. I shoot so rarely I wonder why I have a pot, three presses, a Lub-a-Matic, and all the other stuff I've collected.

Re: What Rifle Reloading Did You Do Today?
More on my Enfield reloading - I switched to a Prvi 150gr JSP bullet and used the same load of CFE223 as before. Result was a 1.7" group at 100 yards.
Then I upped the charge by half a grain and shot this group (ignore the partially covered hole in the lower left. That was from a previous group). Spread in velocity was only 9 fps, but the speed was low at only 2333 fps avg.
That's 0.73" at 100 yards. May be a fluke, but I'll take it for now.
