Shameless post seeking mods/upgrades to the Pro Auto Disk
Howdy all,
New member, second post. I've got several of Lee Pro Auto disks and am looking to improve their performance/reducing leaking, you name it. So if you have a mod/upgrade/performance enhance, please post. Pics/videos, links/writeups/blogs and links, I'm interested in anything and everything.
Best Regards,
Dave

One mod I heard of but have not tried yet is nail polish in a hole to reduce its volume a tiny bit. My problem is how easy could it be removed if needed, nail polish remover maybe.

You can drill a hole in the side and tap it for a machine screw to adjust the volume a small bit.
You can also buy blank disks to drill your own cavity.

The ProAutoDisk is the only measure I use, but actually I didn't find any need to modify it at all. I mostly load TrailBoss, which has very large but flat disk shaped flakes, and they do leak from time to time. I plan to carefully lap the top of the main body, so the hopper would sit on there a little bit tighter, but that's all.

Actually it's better to lightly sand the bottom part of the hopper (where the elastomer wiper is). Notice on both edges there are small "ridges" running along the sides. Use very fine sand paper on a flat surface and carefully, it doesn't take very much. If you get a bit to aggressive the "wiper" will drag a bit across the powder drop opening. Yes, I know this can happen.....

Re: Shameless post seeking mods/upgrades to the Pro Auto Dis
I never used to think about it and years ago nearly stopped using the Pro Auto due to leaking. It turned out the white rubber wiper just needs an occasional cleaning. I would get enough build up of Bullseye that it would start to squeak out a little bit here and there. A damp cloth cleaned it right up and a blast of air dried it. Poof, no more leak. I worried that maybe someday the rubber bit would need replacing but that day has yet to come. Years later and many thousands loaded and it's still going strong.

I too loaded thousands of rounds with the Pro Auto Disk powder measures. They served me well, the only draw back I had with them was ease of making minute changes in volume.

I don't mod anything and it works great. No leaking and consistent drops.

Yeap, a great prep step for the Pro Auto Disk and plain old Auto Disk. I use 500 grit lapping compound on a glass smooth bathroom tile that I keep for the purpose.Horseman wrote:Actually it's better to lightly sand the bottom part of the hopper (where the elastomer wiper is). Can you provide a pic of exactly where those ridges are? I may need/want to do some lapping on those. I don't remember doing it when I tuned the last Pro Auto Disk I have.Horseman wrote:Actually it's better to lightly sand the bottom part of the hopper (where the elastomer wiper is).
