Lee "Classic" stuff...
I started this thread as a post on another thread, but decided to move it somewhere more appropriate and not hijack the other thread.
Not meant to be a hijack, but the term "Classic Powder Measure" just irked me. OK, here's the gripe (and worth nuttin' really). I wish Lee would drop their naming everything "Classic". If one says "classic" I immediately think of an older, tried and true, good functioning product that serves as a "standard" for newer produced products. Not a new and improved product. "Classic" Cast press? Nuttin' "classic" about it , it's a new and good design press. Classic turret? I have a true classic turret and it ain't the New Model cast iron turret press, it's the old "classic" design aluminum base turret. Calling everything "Classic" often leads to confusing posts/descriptions on forums when someone tries to describe their tool/product in question...
OK rant off...

I say AMEN! A name indicates character, if it ain't old enough to be "Classic" it's not "classic" period. Nuff said, Thanks for the tolerance.

Re: Lee "Classic" stuff...
I agree with it as well. They have a lot of "classic" stuff and there isn't noth'n classic about the new stuff. A classic loading tool would be the Lee Loader, this forum's name sake. How about they release a special run of 100 of every cartridge they offered the Loader for and call them "The Classic Lee Loader". That's a classic!

Re: Lee "Classic" stuff...
This "Classic" stuff is typical of Lee ingenuity. They have since day one been innovators as both the dad and son understand the need of excellent inexpensive reliable reloading tools. I super excited to give the new Auto Drum PM I just received a trial run. At under 40 bucks it will certain give every other manufactures progressive PM a run for the money.
This Auto Drum PM looks to be of the same metering design as the Classic PM which is a substantial improvement of the old PPM. Based on the tests I did on the Lee Classic PM I'm confident it will dispense/meter consistent charges of both flake and extruded powders (like Unique and IMR 4895) if the sector/sun gear mechanism work as advertised.
I'm thinking it will be an unbeatable PM for the 550B and the LM progressive presses as it has a chain link reset with each cycling of the ram. But I won't get to play with this Auto Drum PM today as I have to fly down to Sugarland Texas. My daughter has ordered me to come down and take care of the grandkids for a week ( Grin )while she unpack from her recent move to Sugarland. I be sure to post results of this measure when I get back.

Re: Lee "Classic" stuff...
I agree, way to much stuff labeled "Classic" that's not, & unfortunately, Lee is real
bad about it. But, since most of us are old enough to be considered "classic" I
figure were all old (classic) enough to know what's what??
But, I do agree...

Everyone else call the Lee Loader the Classic Lee Loader except for Lee.
