Re: The new AR.....
Just pulled up in Minneapolis after 19 hours of driving over 2 days. Looks like the new guy, Hank, should be here tonight!

Re: The new AR.....
For those curious the 223 has about 100 rnd down range .
it is an ATI Omni Hybrid made in March of this yr .
The current work up has me a 20.0 gr of H4189 under the NOE 22-55 copy ish of the RCBS. It weighs 63 gr checked ready to go and delivers low to mid 2300s in the NATO chamber and doesn't seem to picky about the brass. It delivers about 3 MOA which is about the same as the PMC 55 gr FMJ . There are a few tuning items I could do to close the groups but the idea I'd to use it as a training proficiency tool for Ms . Changes would include changing the 5 MOA RGB BSA out for a duplex 3-9 or fixed 4-6 . Seating the checks base first or a larger stem for the 225 sizer . A slightly longer seating might help also.

Re: The new AR.....
Well lesson learned. The 1/4" plate trap set up for the BP shoot even at 75 yd is inadequate for full tilt 6.8 Rem with 129 gr cast . I loaded 3 each @ 20,21,22 gr of 10x with the NOE 278 -124 . The 1st cratered pretty deep but the 22 gr load fully penetrated 1 inch of plywood and OSB and the plate .

Re: The new AR.....
In an interesting note even the 36 cal 1858 Rem cap & ball dinged the plate making visible/feelable dents from 25 yd ....... 159 yrs and still a lot of authority.
