Hello All,
I was wondering if there is a way to use the Lee Auto Drum Powder Measuer without the expander when loading pistol? I am getting a lot of brass shavings from my expander and was thinking about expanding in a seperate step.
Thanks

The expander also is the funnel, so no. But you can set it higher, expanding less, and you can disassemble the die and polish the part.

Polishing the expander did it for me on several occasions..

Re: Auto Drum Without Expander
Some like the Lee expanders, but I like the Lyman or NOE two-step solid or powder through expanders for just expanding the cartridge case mouth, the NOE powder through expanders can be used with any of the Lee Auto powder measurers.
I size all my pistol brass on another press, so when I'm using any of the various Lee Auto Drum or Auto Disk powder measurers I use the Lee Long or Short charge die or replace the original expander plug with one of a slightly smaller caliber so that it charges the case but doesn't expander the case any further.
