LEE bullet feeder, tips, tricks, and opinions?

Post by Fyodor »

Howdy, Forum!

I might have a dedicated loading bench in the near future, so I'm thinking about extending my equipment. One thing I thought about is the LEE bullet feeder for my pro1000. A firend of mine uses one on his LoadMaster, and it seems to work for him, but he has a pretty complete workshop, and none of his items is unmodified.

The LEE bullet feeder is a bit tricky, as far as I heard, but I'd like to hear some opinion from LEE-phile people who don't wear blue lenses.

I'm loading .38spl and .45Auto with lead bullets. The .45 is greased with a very solid, non-sticky wax-like stuff, the .38 is dry lubed with MoS2.

Does anyone have some experience in feeding lead bullets, and feels like sharing his knowldge? I would be especially interested about the MoS2 coated bullets, and are less concerned about the wax-greased .45s.

If you have some helpfull mods for the feeder, you're also welcome to share those.

Thanks in advance!

I have feeders for all three of my Load-Masters at bullet feed is the second thing that I'm going to get working, the first is on press priming, or these things are going to hit the road in favor of a Online Fabricating modified Classic Turret.

Here is what I'm working through with the bullet feeder…

I have three 444 Marlin cases filled with lead, ready to go. I use Alox on my bullets but I'm coating them with mica and I will coat everything that is in contact with the bullets as well.

What I really want to achieve is full, "no contact", loading with the 7.62x39 which means that I need to come up with a bullet feeder for a 30 Caliber that is near .9" long.
