Hi Guys
Has anyone here done any trigger work on the 10/22. i.e. aftermarket hammer kit, sear etc.
I have read about kits such as Volquartsen hammer kit and Brimstone Gunsmithing.
Any input would be appreciated

Re: 10/22 trigger
I have. I know there's a couple others here too.
Mine has the original sear and shoe but Volquartsen hammer, Shivley shims, Kidd buffer/rod/bolt spring, Wolff springs elsewhere. Crisp and clean at about 2 pounds. The Volquartsen hammer made the most difference. I did all the housing and internal polish work myself. I also installed an auto bolt release and Ti mag release.

Re: 10/22 trigger
I only installed an auto bolt release, the trigger was OK for me, sorry that I can't help out with personal experience.
But I know that a lot of guys in Germany install Volquartsen triggers. Mostly the complete unit, reworking stuff on your own isn't very common here. Most people fear they might tough something that only a registered gunsmith is allowed to work on.

Re: 10/22 trigger
I was leaning to getting the Volquartsen hammer but I am leery about polishing-will I polish too much or not evenly? After buying polishing compound, 1200 grit paper, polishing wheel etc, It would probably cost more than having Brimstone do the work for me. They reshape the hammer and polish what ever needs to be polished. If polishing is really simple, someone please let me know how to do it.
I already reworked the bolt release to be auto, and handle myself.

Re: 10/22 trigger
It's easy to roll an edge or dish a flat area when learning to machine polish.
I started on wrenches and ratchet handles I bought off eBay and resold after polishing. Can't hurt polished chrome. I eventually moved on to aluminum which is easy to damage.
Just takes practice

Re: 10/22 trigger
I polished mine for better tigger. I will some day buy a kidd trigger kit or full assembly. I've shot the kidd 2 stage and it is above all others. timney cannot compete nor volq. ,cost is high but it's worth it. I have to many guns not completely set up yet and beens I rarely shoot .22 rime fire for lack of ammo. I'm focused on other platforms.
