Have we done movies lately?

Post by Ranch Dog »

My favorites, no particular order but all with the same Texas border theme.

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

Sicario

No Country for Old Men

I did this one last one up right! Took my wife through Eagle Pass to Del Rio where we stopped and watched it. We were supposed to go on to Sanderson for the night but she wouldn't go, scared %@*&$. The following morning we went on through to Big Bend and then worked our way up to Alpine and Fort Davis. She figured somebody would get us on that trip. Me, I just thought it was a good way to kick off a scenic drive of several days across the Texas border country! It really buggered her!

I recently revisited a few standards.
True Grit both the new and old cuts ,no replacement for John ,I didn't Glen .
Tombstone was a nice trip.
Sargent York and To Hell and Back get a thumbs up also.

On the lighter side Robin Williams in RV makes me chuckle without even seeing seeing it . If you have or have used even a camper it is very familiar taken to the silly extreme which in the moment is not the least bit humorous but looking back......

Only movie I went to see was the latest star wars at the wife's request and after watching it, wished I hadn't gone.

Another one I watched on Netflix was " Get Low"". Bill Murray and Robet Duvall are in it and it fit their styles and deminer. I'd certainly watch it again.

The Mrs. and I saw the Revenant a couple weeks ago. It was truly an amazing movie. Extremely somber, and full of death, it follows a man injured an left for dead in the wilderness by a group of trappers he was guiding for. The whole movie keeps you constantly in awe of what he endured to make it back to civilization, and how hard life was for native Americans and settlers at the time.
