Can never have too many of the same caliber dies.....

Post by Crumb Castle »

Recently purchased a RGB set in .308.
The issue was my full length sizing die had become scored and even though it was re-worked & appeared fine, I realized I wasn't going to be completely satisfied until I'd replaced it.
The RGB set fit the bill. Plus I like the color of the plastic box it comes in.

I got more die sets than turrets for my pro 1000, too. 3 die sets in .45ACP and 3 sets in .38spl. Don't even know why, I only use the one set each installed in the turret, and one .38 set in my hands press. Half of my die sets have never been taken out of their box :-)

I have 3 sets of 38 / 357 dies and 2 sets of 06'. They are set up and locked for specific jobs. Why I have a 44 mag set again I have no idea I've had 4 sets and never had or even shot 1. I would like to have a 45 Schofield/Colts set an a 460 sizer, or a rifle to go with the 458WM dies. Actually I have more dies than cartridges. A few get used as step sizers like the 275H&H for making 264 WM from 300WM.

Now there's a reason for having extra dies.

I have a set of 256WM dies to ease the step making 222 from 223 also. The single step wrecked too many shoulders.

Cartridge conversions are an area where I haven't ventured into yet, but I know the value of having dies to ease the brass along. I have added this book to my library. Very informative for the handloader that wants to learn.

Ive made 32 Rem from 30-30 rimless from rimmed is challenging w/o a lathe. The 222 was just a matter of no brass available here in smallville. I try to avoid "radical" reforms like 22-250 from 35 Whelen , not that I would do that but it could have to be done. I've done the easy 1s like 243 from 308 and 9x 57 from 06' and 280 AI from 06'.

Yeah, there's a bag of 30-06 laying around here, waiting for another chance at life.
